The Paragon Carousel has given beloved memories for over eighty years to people now stretched across the country. Offering old-fashioned fun, the carousel enchants all who encounter it. The Paragon Carousel was awarded a Partners in Preservation grant of $100,000 that will restore the windows and doors of the Paragon Carousel Building, returning it to its former glory and connecting the Carousel to its striking views of the ocean and bay.

What is the historical significance of this site?
The Carousel, built in 1928 as part of Paragon Park, is one of just 150 hand-carved historic carousels left in the U.S. Now the centerpiece of Nantasket Beach, the carousel is the only ride from the Park left in Massachusetts. The Paragon Carousel Building is also one of only three original carousel buildings in the country housing its carousel at or near its original location. Three times, the community and carousel lovers nationwide have rallied to save the carousel—most recently when it was purchased by the Friends of the Paragon Carousel. The Paragon Carousel continues to inspire its 100,000 annual visitors, uniting people of all generations and walks of life.

What is the current and proposed use of the site?
The Paragon Carousel opens seasonally to transport visitors of all generations back in time. The Carousel now sits at the hub of the Nantasket Beach Reservation. The Paragon Carousel was awarded a Partners in Preservation grant of $100,000 that will provide for the installation of historically accurate doors and the restoration of the original windows, restoring the historic Paragon Carousel Building and connecting the carousel and its riders to its views of the beach and bay.

Why this site needs your continued support:
The Paragon Carousel has always been the essence of old-fashioned fun in its seaside town, enchanting residents and visitors alike. The restored doors and windows will enhance both the interior and exterior appearance, making the Paragon Carousel Building a magnificent home for this magical piece of the past.
